During the second week of March, my blog friend Starr came to visit San Francisco since her boyfriend was here for a work conference. I was stoked! Double stoked because I would be seeing her two weeks after in D.C.
Phil and I were planning to meet up with Starr and Ben for a later dinner, so Phil and I went up to the city to hang out for a bit.
We had wanted to dine at Hog Island Oyster Co., but when we got to the Ferry Building, they had a sign saying they were closed for the rest of the day because of plumbing issues. Just our luck! 🙁
Thankfully the weather wasn’t too cold (for San Francisco), so we ended up just walking towards the North Beach neighborhood.
Instead of looking on Yelp like I usually do, we ended up picking a bar that we thought looked cool and just went in. The Devil’s Acre was dark and romantic, but they had a great happy hour, which they called the Devil’s Hour, hah.
After two rounds of drinks, we headed over to dinner at Sotto Mare. I’ve had this restaurant on my Yelp’s bookmarks for about 4 years, so I’m glad we finally got to try it. They’re known to serve the best ciopinno in the city, so I had very high hopes. We started dinner with West Coast (for Starr and Ben) and East Coast (for me and Phil) oysters. So juicy!
$40 for a huge bowl of amazingness. 🙂
It was such a fun night eating delicious food, catching up with Starr, and having her meet my boyfriend! 🙂
