While most people freak out about turning a year older, I have fully embraced it. I just feel like every year, my life gets better and better. I’m more successful at work, I have a deeper connection with my friends and family, and I’m learning more. During my 28th year on Earth, I started a new job at Stanford Children’s Hospital, I started taking classes for project management, and I met Phil. 🙂
Before going out for drinks, I joined Steph and her church friends in making some 粽子 (zong zi) or “rice dumplings.” It’s basically glutinous rice stuffed with meat, mushrooms, and other fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. Clement taught a bunch of us how to prep all the material and wrap the zong zi. Pretty fun experience!
After Phil finished coaching basketball, he also stopped by!
Bunch of Taiwanese people! 😀
After we made two batches, we started pre-gaming. We saw Jameson Caskmates and had to try it. It was really smooth – I’m a big fan!
We headed downtown around 6pm and first met up with Ashley, Kevin, and Jon! 🙂
At this point, Phil must’ve been pretty drunk because he had to take this photo 7-8 times. All the ones before were blurry… what a terrible Instagram husband! But of course, always very happy to see Evonne and Mika who came all the way from San Francisco. 🙂
After eating dinner and drinking a few more shots and beers, Phil had to go home. I ended up taking him home around 8:30pm. -_- Young grasshopper couldn’t handle his alcohol, hahah.
The next day, during our actual birthdays, Clay and Neil treated us out to Gen Korean BBQ. It was nice to be able to spend our birthdays with them because my parents were in Taiwan at the time.
On Monday, my team ordered a Paris Baguette cake to celebrate. 🙂 Cheers to many more fun adventures during my last year in my 20s!
