After every Vegas trip, I think to myself, “Okay, this is the last one.” … And it never is. I mean, I don’t go overly crazy a la Hangover/Hangover II/Hangover III or even gamble, but there’s just something about the Vegas vibe that makes me want to get to another level when partying. (Plus, people won’t judge you when you want to day drink and night drink.)
When my sister invited me to go on a girls trip to Vegas, I couldn’t say no. Plus, the San Diego crew aka TinaTine and StephLeen were going to be reunited!
It was our last day in Vegas, so the group did a bunch of Vegas things: morning shots, gamble (I didn’t), and of course, eat!
Wake up, wake up!
Besides keeping the alcohol flowing throughout the weekend, we had planned to stuff our faces at one of the best buffets in Vegas, Bacchanal Buffet. At this point, we lost Jon at the day club… but hey, he’s a big boy so he can take care of himself, right?
We actually lucked out because the line for bigger groups got in faster than the regular line!
When you ask people when they like to go to Vegas, they’ll usually say during the summertime. I bet it’s because they like to go to the day clubs and the nightclubs. Hitting two birds with one stone is always good, right? Although I do like partying in Vegas when it’s hot (and the summers there get REALLY hot, like 100+ degrees hot), sometimes I like to enjoy my vacation without feeling like I’m melting. And that is why I like going in January (I’ve been to Vegas a handful of times during MLK weekend!). During the winter, the weather is beautiful. You can wear t-shirt and shorts or dresses and not feel cold at all.
Some of the girls were wondering what we could do if day clubs weren’t open in the winter. I didn’t mind just drinking and hanging out on the strip. However, my coworker Brian, who is a huge Vegas junkie, told me Marquee had recently opened a festival-style dome day club. This day club installed structural arches with state of the art lighting that covers the whole club. The dome helps control the temperature (around 85 degrees) at the pool so people can get that summer vibe. Clubbers who go at night can also hang out in the insulated pool area.
The next morning, everyone went to do their own thing, but I stayed at the hotel to wait for Tina’s arrival.
The weekend after Steph and I came back from Taiwan, we were back at the airport… this time, we were flying to Vegas for Steph’s nursing school graduation celebrations. Kind of poor planning on our part, but I guess it was like a mini-vacay after our big vacay! (I did feel terrible for taking MLK Day off when I had skipped a week of work in the new year already.)
Steph and I met up with some of her friends at the airport in San Jose and got some drinks while we waited to board. You can never go wrong with the shot-and-beer combos!
